Wednesday Nights at FBC (2).png

New to First Baptist?

Dear newcomers,

We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our church family! Here at FBC there are plenty of ways to get involved. We encourage you to join us for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. Youth Group for grades 6-12, Children's Ministry ages 4-11, nursery available for ages birth to 3 years during both Bible study and worship time.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, children ages 4-11 stay in worship for "Parenting in the Pew", based on the book, Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship.

During the Summer months, we meet one Wed. evening a month for a Vespers Service at one of several beautiful outdoor locations. Our First Kids and Youth have a break from Sunday evening meetings for the summer and resume once school is back in session.

On the fifth Sunday of the month we have a Church-wide fellowship breakfast in place of Bible Study in our Wayland Fellowship Hall. Please join us!

We would love for you to fill out a visitor card located in the back of pew in front of you, and bring it to the Sanctuary entrance at the end of service and receive a gift which includes information about upcoming events.

Blessings,

Here at First Baptist, our Children's Ministry is "First Kids!" The children attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, and during worship, Ms. Jamie has a Children's Message, then the kids are dismissed to Children's Church. On the 4th Sunday of the month, children remain in the Sanctuary for "Parenting in the Pew", you can learn more about this program by reading the book "Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship", by Robbie Castleman. First Kids have a break from Sun. evening meetings for the summer, and will resume when school starts back in the fall.

OUR NEXT SERIES "WHAT'S NEXT?": Puzzles don't come with step-by-step instructions for solving them. That's what makes them so much fun! You have to try to figure out the next best step to take. When Jesus left Earth, his followers had to wonder the same thing— "What's next?" In this 4-week series about the Early Church, kids will see how Jesus' followers solved the puzzle of what to do next and the ways we can follow in their footsteps. As kids discover what to do next, they'll learn they can follow Jesus, pray for others, love like Jesus did, and share the good news.

Important Dates for our First Kids:

April 19: Easter Celebration for our First Kids 10-12

April 20: Happy Easter - No First Kids or Youth in the evening

NEW THIS SUMMER!  A note from Pastor Bert:

After consulting with Children’s Director, Jamie Higginbotham, I have made the decision, with the blessing of the Deacon Executive Committee, NOT to host VBS at our church this summer.  In the simplest terms, the investment of money, volunteer time and energy, and STAFF preparation are excessive in light of child participation in recent years (not just at our church but at EVERY church in our community that still does VBS).

Instead of VBS, Jamie is going to offer three weeks (one week per summer month) of 3-day (Mon, Wed, Fri) half-day themed camps that will include bible instruction and spiritual formation.  The themes will be SPORTS, CRAFTS, and COOKING.  These sessions will be geared toward teaching and nurturing our First Kids as well as the friends they invite and bring to camp with them. Have a great summer!!

                                                                                                   Thanks, Bert
