Welcome

New to First Baptist?

Dear newcomers,

We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our church family! Here at FBC there are plenty of ways to get involved. We encourage you to join us for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. Youth Group for grades 6-12, Children's Ministry ages 4-11, nursery available for ages birth to 3 years during both Bible study and worship time.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, children ages 4-11 stay in worship for "Parenting in the Pew", based on the book, Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship.

On fifth Sundays we have a Church-wide fellowship with either a breakfast or coffee and donuts, in place of Bible Study in our Wayland Fellowship Hall. Please join us!

We would love for you to fill out a visitor card located in the back of pew in front of you, and bring it to the Sanctuary entrance at the end of service and receive a gift which includes information about upcoming events.

Blessings,

Here at First Baptist, our Children's Ministry is "First Kids!" The children attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, and during worship, Ms. Jamie has a Children's Message, then the kids are dismissed to Children's Church. On the 4th Sunday of the month, children remain in the Sanctuary for "Parenting in the Pew", you can learn more about this program by reading the book "Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship", by Robbie Castleman. First Kids resume meeting on Sunday evenings on Sun., Sept. 7 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Pick up and Drop off is at the Portico entrance.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: A 5-Week Series from 1 Kings & 2 Chronicles on
Solomon starting September 7th during Sunday School, Children's Church, and First Kids Sunday Evenings.

SERIES OVERVIEW:

King Solomon is best known for his wisdom and for building God’s temple. Thankfully, he passed on his wisdom so others could have a strong foundation for building up their faith. In this 5-week series, kids will hear from Solomon and the wisdom he shared about the kind of life God wants to help us build. They'll see that God gives them directions to follow, listens to their requests, is worthy of their worship, and gives them true wisdom.

First Kids/ Youth Sunday Evenings will begin on September 7th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. We will have our Bible study, music with Ms. Larisa, and dinner together. If you would like to sign up to make a meal for our youth and First Kids on a Sunday evening, please get in touch with Patricia or Jamie.

More dates have been added to our Volunteer Signup page for anyone who would like to volunteer in the nursery. If you have never signed up for the nursery, that is okay! Just click on the nursery volunteer button on the FBCNW website and sign up. Jamie will be in contact with more information and a background check that will need to be completed to volunteer.

First Baptist Youth

Reverend Patricia Turner
Associate Pastor

School is back in session which means the new church year for youth is beginning. Friday morning breakfast at The 50's began on Friday. Sunday youth nights will begin on Sunday, September 7 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Our church family is needed to help with suppers on Sundays for our youth and children. The meals can be homemade or something from a restaurant. Let Patricia or Jamie know if you are willing to assist with this and be in a rotation. We can also give you suggestions if needed. Serving a meal to the youth is one way you can be an encouragement to our youth.

Our youth time will be structured with choir and a meal each evening. Some Sunday nights our youth will be doing prayer experiences, a Bible study entitled -

Becoming Like Christ, or have special recreation times. Pray for our youth as they continue to build their spiritual foundations.

Youth will also be going to small groups. I encourage adults to use this time to get to know the youth and offer encouragement and support to them. Experts say, each youth needs 5 trusted adults in their lives, and you can be one of those people.

Finally youth parents and youth remember to sign up for the CBFNC Youth Beach Retreat at Caswell October 24-27. Cost is $100 and is due by Sunday, September 14.

Our youth group is growing and we are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to get involved with the youth please let Patricia know. All it takes is a commitment to love our youth and be there for them!!               Blessings, Patricia
