Welcome

New to First Baptist?

Dear newcomers,

We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our church family! Here at FBC there are plenty of ways to get involved. We encourage you to join us for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. Youth Group for grades 6-12, Children's Ministry ages 4-11, nursery available for ages birth to 3 years during both Bible study and worship time.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, children ages 4-11 stay in worship for "Parenting in the Pew", based on the book, Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship.

On Sunday evenings, First Kids and Youth meet from 4-6:00 p.m.

On the fifth Sunday of the month we have a Church-wide fellowship breakfast in place of Bible Study in our Wayland Fellowship Hall. Please join us!

We would love for you to fill out a visitor card located in the back of pew in front of you, and bring it to the Sanctuary entrance at the end of service and receive a gift which includes information about upcoming events.

Blessings,

Here at First Baptist, our Children's Ministry is "First Kids!" The children attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, and during worship, Ms. Jamie has a Children's Message, then the kids are dismissed to Children's Church. On the 4th Sunday of the month, children remain in the Sanctuary for "Parenting in the Pew", you can learn more about this program by reading the book "Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship", by Robbie Castleman. On Sunday evenings, First Kids meets from 4-6 p.m., as well as Wednesday evenings, from 6-7 p.m.

BIG PICTURE: A 5-Week Series from the Gospels

Every great movie tells a great story. When we see those stories played out on the big screen, we can learn a little more about ourselves and the world around us. Jesus knew how powerful stories could be, and he made them a big part of how he taught his followers. In this 5-week series, kids will hear some of the stories Jesus shared that can help them see the big picture of a life spent following God. Kids will see that God helps us know what's true, the ways we can give back to God, how God sends us helpers, and how God gives us second chances.

Be on the lookout for opportunities to help prepare for VBS!

VBS dates are June 8-10.

Youth Ministry at FBCNW has begun a new study entitled Kindred: Developing Christ-Centered Friendship. Our four topics are The Call to Be Christ-Centered, Connected in Christ, Committed to Christ, and The Importance of Community.  Pray for our youth as they study together, do devotions and have conversations with their parents about this topic and grow in their walk with Christ and develop Christ-centered friendships.

March 13-16 several of our youth will be in a musical called "Mamma Mia".  The performances will be at The Mayes Pitt on Wilkes Community College campus. I encourage you to contact the Wilkes Central Choral Department to reserve a ticket to attend.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.  Our youth are going on Sunday afternoon to support.

MerleFest is a little over a month away.  The youth, along with volunteers run a parking lot fundraiser (Dr. Bond’s old office lot on School St.) If you would like to support the Youth Ministry by volunteering, please sign-up early to help park cars with Patricia.  Lots of volunteers are needed for MerleFest and all funds raised will support Youth PASSPORT Camp and Missions.  It takes everyone helping out and we appreciate you volunteering!!
